I read everything that comes in, and I answer as many messages as I can. If you are recovering from a stroke or brain injury, or supporting someone who is, you are the reason this site exists.

What I can help with
I am happy to point you towards articles here, share what my own recovery was like, suggest which of the independent bodies on our Resources page might answer a question, or hear your feedback and corrections. If something on the site is unclear, wrong, or out of date, telling me is genuinely useful.
What I cannot help with
I am a stroke survivor, not a doctor. I cannot tell you what is wrong, whether a symptom is serious, what your recovery will look like, or whether a particular therapy is right for you. Those questions belong with your rehabilitation team and your doctor, who know your case. Nothing I say by email is medical advice.
Please keep your clinical details to yourself
Do not send me your medical records, your brain scans, or the details of your diagnosis or your care. I cannot read them, I am not your clinician, and email is not a secure or safe place for that kind of information. A general question is always welcome; your private medical detail should stay between you and the people treating you.
In an emergency
If you or someone with you shows signs of a stroke, sudden face drooping, arm weakness, or slurred speech, or any other medical emergency, do not email me. Call your local emergency number now (911 in the United States, 999 in the United Kingdom, or 112 across much of Europe). Minutes matter with the brain.
